Torchy's is one of those cultural icons of fantastic food coming out of Austin. Branches are opening all over the state and will soon be opening as far away as Denver, Colorado. When pulling up to the Fort Worth location, don't be discouraged if there is a line of cars - they're only fighting for that single space opening up as a customer leaves. Be patient and let the next guy take that spot because there's an entire FREE parking garage next to the restaurant for Torchy's customers.
The interior is bright, colorful and spacious, with pointillism art covering the walls and often ample seating, including an outdoor patio area (with full bar which also serves Texas style frozen margaritas!) cooled by fans.
The menu is ecclectic and creative, pairing together flavors that work in ways never before imagined.

GREEN CHILE PULLED PORK BURRITO
Torchy's green chile pulled pork burrito is large enough to feed two people and doesn't have any heat at all: the green chilies seemed to have been folded or blended into the mix to create a soft sweetness. With pulled pork, rice, beans, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole, one Bon Vivant loved it so much they declared a food buzz from it!

BAJA SHRIMP TACO
The Baja shrimp taco is served with a lime wedge, which when sprinkled over the open faced taco upon arrival to the table, provides an added freshness and lightens the weight of the rich Chipotle sauce and shredded queso fresco. Cilantro brightens and creates a garden-fresh element: together they balance and soften the heavier, richer characteristics of the taco. Cooked cabbage slaw and pickled red onions and jalapenos round out the complex combination of flavors.

The fresh gulf shrimps are hand battered with secret ingredients and then fried to a delectable tenderness while maintaining their original sweet flavor. Succulent and rich, these beautiful deep fried sea creatures bring the entire taco together! This is the best gourmet taco the Bon Vivant Gourmets have ever had.
