No price available/not available on the American market.
On a beautiful fall day, the sun shining bright over Texas, the air crisp and clean, we sat outside, sipping on this beautiful wine.  We were thoroughly impressed with its apparent dark cherry, crimson color and discussed how fortunate we are to have such a beautiful day to examine a rare and impossible to acquire wine.  This was a gift, from a life-long friend in Germany.

The nose displayed beautiful earth, dry dirt, blackberries and hints of minerality.  Germany, and the Nahe especially, are known for their Rieslings, and pure Dornfelders are not common.  The majority of production gets blended, often to enrich Pinot Noirs.  More and more Dornfelders are being bottled however as the market recognizes the uniqueness of this wine.
Very well balanced, light to medium bodied, this wine changed...ameliorated even...as it opened!  Earth and cassis were upfront at first but then these notes faded, bringing forth its true identity!  As this happened, minerals and black tea appeared.  The wine showed how soft and delicate its true nature was and then, exposed, it filled the experience with milk chocolate covered blueberries!  This became more and more pronounced as the wine opened.

To learn more about Dornfelder, please review the videos and discussion on Dornfelder under the Germany header.
